Ice acts as an optical medium to disrupt and reconstruct the image of the Chatham Islands Forget-me-not (Myosotidium hortensia), a rare New Zealand native plant endemic to the Chatham Islands. Light passing through frozen water fractures, diffuses, and disperses into micro-points, breaking continuous form into discrete fragments. The image sits between representation and dissolution – where the subject remains visible, yet unstable. Rather than documenting the flower, the work examines how matter transforms light and how perception is constructed from fragments.
